WHAT IS STAGING? 

Barb Schwarz invented home staging in the early 1970’s as a way to prepare homes for sale.  It is estimated that one in four homes nationwide are now staged. When you get ready to place your home on the market, it becomes a product. Similar to a product on the shelf at your local store, the product has features and benefits as well as pluses and minuses, and competition. To compete in the marketplace you must be priced right and look better than the other products. Your home is no different, it is one of many homes for sale and you must present it to the buyers in the best possible light.

Staging involves a professionally trained person taking the things you already own and arranging them in such a way that Buyers can readily see themselves living in your space.  With staging we are no longer selling your things…..we are selling the space.

CLUTTER EATS EQUITY and so the first chore in staging is clearing the home of clutter. The next chore is cleaning.  Homes for sale need to be spotless and shiny. Buyers want to feel they are moving into a home that is free of dirt and odors.
